Medicare Rebate Policy

Medicare Rebates are for the patient and are determined by Medicare and not by Dr Khan’s clinic. Rebates vary depending on the type of appointment and whether the full requirements are met for the appointments. In general, Medicare rebates for new patient appointments range from $180-$255.90 and for follow up appointments range from $42.50-$209.55.

To be eligible for Medicare Rebates, GP referrals must be renewed every 12 months. It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure that they have provided the clinic with an updated GP referral.

Medicare item numbers

If you have seen a psychiatrist in the last 12 months you will need to confirm that the item numbers mentioned above are available to you. For example, if you are seeking a treatment plan and have already used item 92435 or 291 in the last 12 months, you may be ineligible for these item numbers again and so your out-of-pocket cost will be significantly higher. It is the patients responsibility to check whether they will be eligible for the different item numbers and rebates. You can check this online or call Medicare on 13 21 50.

From time to time, there may be a change to Dr Khan’s fee schedule.
