Strong Focus on Veterans’ Mental Health

Dr Khan has a particular focus on working with Australian Defence Force (ADF) veterans and supporting their transition from service to civilian life. He understands the unique psychological challenges that may arise from military service, including trauma-related conditions, adjustment difficulties, and co-occurring mental health issues.

As an assessor for the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), Dr Khan regularly conducts Initial Liability Claim (ILC) Assessments. These assessments are critical in determining whether a veteran’s psychological condition is causally related to their service. Dr Khan’s approach combines clinical expertise with an appreciation of the complexities of military service, ensuring that each report is comprehensive, fair, and tailored to the requirements of the DVA framework.
